Now, let's shape.

Well, today the babe is in the Cleve, Ed is M.I.A., Sven hooked me up with some supplies from Sway's marketplace, John pointed me in the direction of some rockin new tunes...Yea, the conditions are just right to do some shaping at home. So I put on Titus Andronicus, grabbed my new planer to try out and got to it.plane tools

Step 1: Plane out the thickness.

Starting to feel comfortable with the planer. Long way to go, but the lines are getting cleaner.

Step 2: Tracing the template. Pretty sketchy, pun intended.

Step 3: Cut it out

Step 4: Square the rails
Step 5: Rough shape. Sorry no pics, I tend to just get in the groove and do work. Little planing, little surform, little finger plane, and here you go.

Step 6: Rough sand. Get those grooves and planer marks down now.
Step 7: Bottom concaves.

Step 8: Sand down all but rails. Get your foil right.

I am out of sanding screen and my router is at the shop, so thats all for now. Gotta fine sand with sanding screen, clean it up, mark out fin positions, then I'm ready to glass.
